PIctures from a disposable camera!

When we were in New Orleans this summer (almost a year ago?! whaaaat?) I picked up this little disposable camera from Urban Outfitters.

It took me forever to actually get it developed, but I finalllly did!

It had all of these fun frames, not to mention the faded charm that comes with disposable film. Isn't that pink building so cute stuck in the middle right there! I love NOLA!

Jesse's Aggie Ring Day!

Ducks on our trip to San Antonio. I think this was my favorite picture!

Its always so much fun to see how pictures come out on film. You may not always get to take the picture  a thousand times like when your using your digital, but I find that a lot of times, the pictures come out better anyway!

TO ALL OF MY HOUSTON FRIENDS!!

Hey ya'll, sorry for not posting recently, it has been crazy around here, and I'm hoping some of you can help me out... :)

We are looking to rent a place in the Houston Heights or Montrose area. We were initially looking for a house with a yard because of our little Ralphie, but we are getting more and more desperate and will pretty much look at ANYTHING right now!

So if you know of any places, please help a girl out and let me know! :)

Lovin' That New Leather Smell!!!

During the holidays my family asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told them that I really needed a NICE new purse. I hadn't gotten one in a long time, and especially recently I have just been too cheap to buy a nice purse for myself. But since they weren't sure what I wanted, they decided to just give me the cash so that I could go pick it out later.

Needless to say, I JUST bought myself my Christmas present this week. I had looked and looked around for the last two months, and I just couldn't find anything I wanted to spend my money on! Its so weird, when I'm not looking, I see SO many cute purses, and then when I really really need one they all look like old lady purses! Do ya'll know what Im talking about too?

Anyway, I finally found this baby, and immediately fell in love! Its a sort of vintage style mint green leather purse, and the brand is Fossil. The best part however, is that it was super on sale, so I didn't even have to use all of the money that I was given for Christmas! Yay!!
My new little purse's first trip out and about with me was to Houston to house hunt and then go to the Houston Rodeo (posts to come on both topics very very soon!)

One of my fav. parts about this purse is that it has all these pockets for cards and money and lipsticks and all those things that girls need, so I really don't need a wallet! Perfect summer purse!

Birthday CAKE!!!!

Hey yall! Some of you may have read my post last week talking about some ideas I had for my grandmother's 88th Birthday!!! I promised I would post some pictures of the final product after it was done, so here they are! :) I think the cake was a huge hit. Everyone at the party kept telling me how much of a talent I had, they thought that going to culinary school was a great idea. This made me feel a lot better (everyone likes to have their ego stroked once in a while ;) I decided to do a neapolitan center, and I really wish I would have taken a picture of it once I cut it because that was actually my favorite part!

Gumpaste Roses -I dusted them with some white pearl dust

Homemade buttercream IS my favorite part of the cake!!!

Just covered the cake with fondant!

Adding the gumpaste flowers.

The finished product! :)

Ready to get cut up and the restaurant.

I had a couple snags along the way, but all in all I was pretty happy with the cake as a whole! :) But the best part was knowing that my grandmother was so happy with it! The next day she even asked me for a picture of it to send to her friends. :)

Funky Food: The Shamrock Shake

The other day we went to McDonalds and I saw something they called the Shamrock Shake. It was so so so weird, I just had to try it! Apparently they had had it in Canada and the United States in the 80's and 90's and began to return them during the months of February and March for St. Patricks Day recently. After looking them up online, I realized they sort of have a cult-like following similar to the McRib (equally as weird).

Sorta a pretty color right?

The shakes are actually a kind of mild mint flavor (something that seems like it would be more appropriate in the winter to me...), and are crazy sweet. I will say though, as odd as it was... I did find myself going back to it a couple times for a second or third try. I still couldn't bring myself to drink the entire concoction on my own though.

Look, it even has a cherry on top! ;)

The other day I looked down at my nails, and realized that I hadn't painted my nails in almost a WEEK! Im sure most of you are thinking Ok? So? Whats the big deal?! But for me, it was! I usually paint my nails 2-3 times a week. Yea I know. But something about look down at my hands and seeing pretty colored nails makes me feel happy! :) Do any of you feel this way too?

I decided to combine my two favorite nail polishes right now, Deporah Lippmann's "Stairway to Heaven" (this is definitely a little bit more pricey than regular drugstore polish, but still worth it) on top of Essie's "Sand Tropez". Both of the colors are so pretty, and they look PERFECT together too! I also used Essie's "Ridge Filling Base Coat" and Out The Door Top Coat. This stuff LITERALLY dries in seconds! Its amazing for running out the door!

The Sketchbook Project 2012

I'm not sure how many of you remember this, but last year I wrote a post about my 2011 Sketchbook from The Sketchbook Project. My theme was "Its Raining Dogs and Cats" -I know it seems like it should be "cats and dogs" instead, but it wasn't! Haha. So anyway, I ended up LOVING it, and so of course I decided to do another one for 2012! I sent it in January 30th, and just last week they sent me an email confirming that my sketchbook had been catalogued, and would be hitting the road in April! Woohoo! :) This year my theme was "In 10 Minutes", and I had originally decided to take that theme literally draw, paint, etc. for 10 minutes each day (each day being one page, that I could not change after the time was up). But I found that I really couldn't get things out onto paper in the 10 minute timeline each day. I felt that it was really constraining what I could do! So it ended up being more of a little journal about me, kind of along the guidelines of "What Can You Learn About Me In 10 Minutes". I know... A little cheesy, but it worked! ;)

Here are a couple of scans from this years sketchbook!!!

The tour starts in Brooklyn on April 14th, traveling around the country, and then finally returning to The Brooklyn Art Library where they will stay from then on!

The sketchbook will be in Austin, TX September 8th through 16th, so if any of ya'll are in the area go check them out! I promise they will NOT disappoint! :)

I hope that ya'll enjoyed getting a little peek into my sketchbook, and maybe I have even inspired you to do one of your own! ;) If you want to check it out, just click the link at the top of the page. They do them every year! Also, the corporation that does The Sketchbook Project also does a lot of really cool other little projects, and the best part is that a lot of them are FREE!!!! So check them out too! Its called Art House Co-op. So go check it OUT!
